After two different experiences focusing only on our faces, we had the opportunity to represent our whole bodies with clay. This time we used the long full-body mirrors to explore ourselves. We also read the book Eyes, Nose, Fingers and Toes, which helped us to think about our different body parts and the way they fit together. |
In the first week of school, we practiced sketching what we saw with pencil and charcoal. Working without colour allowed us to focus on the shapes of our features. Working with a fragile medium like charcoal allowed us to slow down our drawings and accurately represent the features we were viewing in the mirrors. The following week, we worked on digitally representing our faces using the ABCYa! web tool Make a Face. Finally, we create collage people to represent ourselves. We did this in two different ways.
