We then had an opportunity to create our own cube trains with 8 cubes. When we viewed our cube trains all together, we noticed several things:

Ms. Alison noticed that some of our cube trains used only 2 colours, while others used a mix of more colours. She asked us if we could separate them into two different groups. We all quickly noticed that these two groups represented patterns and non-patterns. We then thought about what would come next in the pattern cube trains, wondering 'How do you know?' We followed this up with some cube train patterns sketches in our math journals.
