Even though we all had individual and unique ideas about what to paint, we demonstrated that we could be mindful and respectful of one another's concepts and intentions. Through this activity, the children developed an understanding of how we might respect each other in our larger shared space: the classroom. As a class community, we are increasingly recognizing how we can express our own unique selves, while still respecting others and the group. |
The first week of school is all about meeting new friends and exploring new environments. In Kindergarten 1 we discover different ways of cooperating and sharing with new people. In our first week in Kindergarten 1.2 we worked together to create a giant painting. We shared paintbrushes, colours, and the space on one big paper, learning each other's names and what special words to use to ask for something.
