While we have continued to explore our current central idea 'Light is all around us and behaves in different ways', we have also made connections to the Transdisciplinary Theme 'How the World Works' with some of our questions.
When we came to the end of some of our whole class inquiries, we met together as a group and reviewed our notebooks and some other video and photograph documentation. We asked ourselves: "What are we still wondering about?" |

How do batteries work? (Jay & Rui)
After watching a video about how batteries work, Jay and Rui concluded that:

- "Batteries have wires inside."
How does the Earth turn? (Charles & Ko)
Charles and Kotaru wondered: "How does the Earth turn?" They discussed and drew their theories and then decided they needed to ask an expert. Ms. Skrtic showed us a video and demonstrated how the Earth rotates and revolves around the sun.

- "There's a stick through [the Earth] that helps it. And the line [equator] helps it turn around."
- "The Earth is so big that it turns by itself and it doesn't fall down."
How do shadows work? (Mayu, Carlotta & Kotoha)
One photo stood out to Ms. Alison and she asked the group: "Where are your shadows? In front of you or behind you?" Since there has been very little sun this week, we've had difficulty investigating this further, but the inquiry will continue when the sun comes back! Kotoha showed her developing understanding of how shadows work by making shadows in the classroom. |
