International Day of Peace (September 21)Grade 4 also supported some peace games for us during our outside playtime on Monday and Tuesday. |
Mid-Autumn Festival (September 27)In our regular class time with Ms. Alison, as well as during our Mandarin lessons, we also explored the Mid-Autumn Festival. Charles's mum kindly brought us some mooncakes, which are an important part of the festival. We studied them, tasted them, and made our own with paper and clay. We also read the book Round is a Mooncake and learned that the Chinese characters on top of our mooncakes told us the ingredients inside. |
In Mandarin, listened to the story of the mid-autumn festival and role played walking around with lanterns as light is an important part of the festival. We also wrote wishes and other messages inside of our paper mooncakes, which showed how some of us had made connections between Peace Day and the Mid-Autumn Festival. |
