As we walked through the park to the playground, we used our observation skills to notice how other people were moving. We saw runners, cyclists and even a team game of frisbee. These observations helped us to express some of our ideas and opinions about why people choose to move in different ways and which forms of movement are better.

This week we demonstrated our ability to be risk-takers and challenged our bodies and movement skills at the Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Adventure Playground. We had so much fun moving in many different ways - like running, jumping, sliding, crawling, swinging, pulling, and more! This park has such incredible structures which definitely inspired us to stretch beyond our movement comfort zones and extend our coordination and skills.
On the playground, it was amazing to see how the children used their thinking skills to analyze and evaluate. These are two of the PYP Approaches to Learning that we are focusing on during this Unit of Inquiry. The children carefully analyzed and evaluated how best to move their bodies and how to navigate the challenging structures. They observed their peers carefully to support their thinking.
Photos and videos were taken to document the experience by teachers and also by students. Check out the first video to see a students-eye view of the Adventure Playground, shot using a GoPro camera.
As our movement inquiry continues, we will be reflecting on our Adventure Playground experience by reviewing the photographs and videos and discussing our memories. We will be representing our movement through different language including visual art and writing.
