The day before our trip we read the book Teddybears in the Swim which helped us to anticipate the types of routines and activities we might expect at the pool. We also discussed how we can be safe at the pool:
- no pushing (Dillon)
- no kicking people in the pool (Max)
- no riding on people (Cailynne)
- stay with your team (Adrian)
- no running around the pool (Olympia)
- No putting water in people's face (Cailynne)
- No scratching others (Maanya)
- No jumping in the pool unless the teachers says (Olympia)
- [making circles with my arms] (Phoenix)
- hopping on two legs and one leg and jumping on the bottom of the pool (Olympia)
- me too (Mana)
- pretending to fall (Adrian)
- floating (Cailynne)
- sinking (Maanya)
- walking (Aarna)
- running (Cailynne)
- handstand, rollie pollie, flipping, kicking (Libby)
- going through hula hoops and under Ms. Alison's legs (Phoenix)
- diving (Cailynne)
Thanks to Mr. Nathan and all the helpful parents who joined us at the pool. What an important (and fun!) movement experience for us. We are looking very forward to our PE swimming unit coming up in April.
