A few weeks ago we started our exploration of shapes. Ms. Alison had noticed through our play that we already had a lot of knowledge about shapes so we started by recording and discussing what we already knew. We worked in small groups to draw and write what we knew. Then we shared as a whole class, explaining our thinking. Lots of us already know the names of the shapes. We also have observed shapes in the world around us. |
One of the things that we are a little bit confused about is the difference between 2D and 3D shapes. All of us thought that Isaiah's bus toy was a rectangle. We will continue to explore the 'flat' nature of 2D shapes as we continue our inquiry into shapes.

We think the moon and the sun is a circle. And clouds are like shapes but we don't know what shapes.
