Today we reflected on our visit by viewing photos and videos of our experiences. We discussed and explained our favourite light installations. We most enjoyed the light blocks, light balls, and interactive light images wall. We each created drawings and wrote descriptions for our favourite installation in our unit of inquiry journal.
We are now using our 'I wonder...' questions to collaboratively plan next steps in our learning. To support our scientific process we will be using this learning cycle as support:
Today Kindergarten 1 shared their learning in the K1-G2 Assembly. We shared our paintings of different light sources and performed the song 'Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star' in different ways. Our presentation was an opportunity for us to practice some of our PYP Approaches to Learning (Transdisciplinary Skills), including planning, presenting, speaking, and spatial awareness, as well as PYP attitudes, like confidence, enthusiasm, and independence.
For the last two weeks our Star Name has been Mikhail. We talked about Mikhail's different nicknames and practiced the letter names, sounds, and formation of letters in his name, including 3 new letters - M, H & L.
Our scientific literacy skills were evident as we:
We reflected on our experiences with dark and light by hearing our discoveries and activities repeated to us from Ms. Alison's documentation notes, as well as by looking at the videos and photos that she took. We made an enormous painting the size of our bodies to represent our Dark Day experiences.
